Egger’s particleboard plant in Brilon, Germany has been modernised and extended in an €18m investment involving Siempelkamp technology.

The 43-day conversion project follows an earlier overhaul at Egger’s Rambervillers factory in France.
On the infeed side the particleboard line was extended by 5m to a total of 43m, with hot platens and drive units also replaced.

Spreading machines were optimised to improve spreading patterns and the old sanding line was replaced by a new ten-head Steinemann Satos plus.

“The main objective of the modernisation was to optimise the particleboard characteristics, said Egger. “Thanks to improved spreading and the new sanding line, a homogenous surface can be achieved. This has a positive impact on the rawboard, as well as lamination.”
