The government of India is examining whether it should impose a safeguard duty on particleboard imports from China after domestic particleboard producers complained of a rise in imports, reports the Press Trust of India.

New Delhi started the investigations after Bajaj Eco-Tec Products Ltd, Noida, and Shirdi Industries Ltd, Mumbai, complained, according to an official.

The companies have called for safeguard duty on imports of particleboard for four years to protect the domestic industry. Particleboard is being imported from Australia, Bangladesh, China and several European countries, they said.
