Surgeons have discovered a fir tree growing in the lungs of a Russian man, according to Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The man was originally thought to be a cancer patient and had been suffering seizures and coughing up blood but a surgeon could not believe his eyes when he found a 5cm germinated pine tree branch instead. It was then removed.
The patient was told fir tree needles had been touching capillary vessels in the lung, causing irritation. He was thought to have inhaled a fir tree bud which then germinated.
