China’s consumption of wood based panels is expected to reach 146 million m3 by 2015 – effectively one-third of the world’s total, according to the latest market report from the International Tropical Timber Organisation.

China’s annual consumption of plywood by 2015 will reach 48 million m3, fibreboard (48 million m3), particleboard (19.5 million m3) and blockboard (21.5 million m3).

Consumption of laminated veneer and OSB is also forecast to increase steadily.

Continued investment in modern technology will support production of wood based panels in China, with flat-press production lines expected to become the dominant technology for particleboard and fibreboard manufacture.
