In volume terms, Brazilian pine plywood sales abroad for December rose by just over 19% against the year before from 71,600m3 to 85,500m3, according to statistics released by the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO).

It found that the volume of tropical plywood exported by Brazil in December 2012 fell by only about 2% from 5,200m3 to 5,100m3 year on year. But the rate of decline observed in the value of tropical plywood exported for that month was substantially greater at 22% with a total December value of US$2.8m, reported the ITTO.
