The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA has applauded the US senate environment and public works committee’s passage of legislation by Sen Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) and Sen Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) to create a new nationawide standard for formaldehyde emissions from composite wood panels based on California’s existing standard.
“American wood products manufacturers have worked hard to meet rigorous standards and we believe that the approach that Senator Klobuchar and Senator Crapo have taken in their bill recognises those efforts and we support it.
“By using California’s existing technology-based standard to create a single nationwide standard, those manufacturers who have stepped up and made the efforts to comply with rigorous standards aren’t put at a competitive disadvantage.”
