Eppingen-based Dieffenbacher will provide it with a complete MDF line, including equipment from the wood chipper line through to panel sanding and lamination.

The deal was finally announced in early May following several months of negotiation between Dieffenbacher and Floraplac MDF, Brazil’s northernmost wood panel producer.

This is the Paragominas-based producer’s first continuous production unit. The firm currently runs a Chinese-built Dieffenbacher/SWPM 12-daylight press MDF line with a 500m3/day capacity, using a fibre mix of eucalypt and the local tropical hardwood paricá.

Floraplac’s new line will incorporate Dieffenbacher’s EVOjet resin mixing line from the start in order to achieve a significant reduction in the use of glue in its fibreboard production.

A steaming unit upstream of the press will guarantee a lower pressing factor, ensuring a high level of line performance. Downstream, another European manufacturer will supply a low pressure melamine laminating line.
