OSB is making some inroads into the plywood market in the US furniture manufacturing industry, according to industry newsletter Random Lengths.

OSB manufacturers are diversifying their sales because of reduced demand for commodity OSB in the depressed home-building sector.

Furniture-grade OSB is denser than typical sheathing panels, sanded on both sides and designed to hold screws.

Some OSB mills told Random Lengths that their availability of commodity sheathing had declined because of increased furniture OSB product sales.
