Georgia-Pacific (GP) permanently cut 67 jobs from its Peterman, Alabama plywood mill, leaving about 300 workers at the facility.
A spokesperson for Atlanta, Georgia-based GP said the company had retooled how it runs the non-union facility. In March, the mill employed 380 workers.
Koch Industries, based in Wichita KS, acquired GP in 2005 for US$21bn in cash, assumed its debt and has trimmed the workforce at all of its area facilities.
GP indefinitely mothballed the Talladega, Alabama, plywood mill and another in Louisiana in May, blaming poor markets.
