July 2016 shipments of particleboard and MDF in the US and Canada totalled 439 million ft2 (¾in basis), a decrease of 9.07% from 483 million ft2 during the comparable month in 2015, according to a Composite Panel Association’s (CPA) Industry Snapshot Report. Year-to-date shipments of 3.246 BSF trailed 2015 by 1.2%.
MDF shipments were 171million ft2, a decrease of 12.2% compared to July 2015 shipments of 195 million ft2 (¾in basis). Year-to-date shipments were 1.287 million ft2, down 1.2% from the same period in 2015.
Particleboard shipments were 268 million ft2, 6.95% below July 2015 totals of 288 million ft2 (¾in basis).
