German wood based products manufacturer Pfleiderer has ambitious objectives for the business year 2008, which it plans to achieve through a price increase. A rise of 5-7% was mentioned by Hans Overdiek of Pfleiderer’s executive committee on the occasion of the recent Investors’ Conference.
Problems are foreseen for the second half of the year, especially in the rising glue prices. These costs can no longer be compensated by sinking wood prices, he said.
In order to achieve this year’s goals a suggestion was to relocate a stagnant Pfleiderer plant from Baie, Quebec, to the US and thus profit from the exchange rate.
