Ta Ann Holdings Bhd, said to be Bursa Malaysia’s largest listed timber company by market capitalisation, has announced a foray into the fast growing Chinese market for downstream plywood products.
Ta Ann will set up a plywood mill in Yang Zhou, a major timber processing centre in Jiangsu Province, to be built and operated by a new subsidiary incorporated in China under the name of Ta Ann Eco-Timber Industries Pty Ltd with registered capital of US$20m.
Ta Ann Eco-Timber says it will be focusing on making and selling eco-friendly plywood products and that the manufacturing base will be used to penetrate the Chinese market for value added eco-plywood such as container flooring.
