Calgary-based PinkWood Ltd has entered into an exclusive arrangement with Taiga Building Products to supply its PK Fireboard Plus in Alberta, where builders for more than a year have been faced with a new building requirement under the fire code to protect the spread of fire to adjacent buildings.
PK Fireboard Plus is a factory-coated OSB specifically designed to provide an effective barrier against fire, with the added benefit of mould and moisture resistance.
When exposed to flames, it produces a dense layer of protective char that insulates the panel surface and significantly reduces the ability of fire to spread while delaying more extensive burning.
The manufacturer, PinkWood, is a specialty building materials producer providing standard wooden construction products coated with a non-toxic water-based coating it says makes the products mould, moisture and fire resistant.
